MARSIELLES
The annual forum of ‘World Languages That Are on The Verge of Extinction’ was organized in Marseilles, southern France. The Kurdish language and culture was also introduced in the forum.
İbrahim Seydo joined Aydoğan and gave a presentation on the Kurdish language, culture and history. The event featured a photographic exhibition by Kurdish photographer Doğan Boztaş who lived in Marseilles and Garip Celik, a Kurdish director, and a short film about 10-year-old Cemile Cagirga who was murdered during the curfew in Cizre during the curfew. The event started with the introduction of languages and cultures that were faced with extinction in the world, with the stands opened in the Belle De Mai district of Marseille, in the morning, and the participants of the forum presented a music concert in their own language.
TEV-ÇAND artists from Marseille gave a mini-concert in Kurdish. The event was organized at a conference on Kurdish language and culture. Attending the conference as a speaker Ibrahim Seydo Aydogan, said ’The right to life of the Kurds are seized in all countries. While the Kurds are viewed as barbarians, they see themselves as modern`.
The Kurds know that despite such denial, massacres and assimilation policies, they still maintain their existence. Aydoğan pointed out that today, Kurdish children are imposed by Turkish, Arabic and Persian regimes under the name of modernization. Expressing that the Kurds and Kurdish were not being developed in any way, Aydoğan continued his criticism of Europes being silent in the face of what happened.
The Kurds fought for the whole world against ISIS gangs and won. Kurdish women took part in this struggle. DAESH was defeated, even after many European countries have labeled the Kurds as ‘terrorists’, they remained silent in the face of the DAESH. This was not enough as Efrin was occupied. At Efrin, children are currently studying Turkish, not their own language. Every morning they are forced to chant “my existence is a gift to the Turkish presence”. The Kurdish language and culture are being destroyed. Kurdish organizations that are resisting against this are being stamped as terrorists.
Kurdish activists forced to leave their country due to war are massacred in the heart of Paris. Those who want to do something for the Kurds are punished severely. Take the example, Ocalan. He’s been held captive on an island. His relationship with the outside is broken. Despite all this, Kurds continue to exist and will continue to sustain.
