RIHA
The detainees of Imralı High-Security F-Type Closed Prison; Hamili Yildirim, Veysi Aktas and Ömer Hayri Konar were visited by their relatives on the holy occasion of Ramadan. Mehmet Öcalan also visited his brother, the People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan, and reported the outcome to the Mesopotamya Agency.
The Peoples Leader was visited on September 11, 2016, after the hunger strike of the 50 Kurdish politicians; he was later visited again on January 12, 2019, due to other hunger strikes. Mehmet Ocalan, who visited the Leader on January 12, disclosed that during the hour-long meeting, they discussed the updates on Sengal, the developments in the Middle East, Turkey’s politics and they talked about many issues related to the hunger strike.
VERY BAD AND INTENSIVE SEARCHES
Mehmet Öcalan emphasized the ways he was taken to the island before his meeting with his brother. Mehmet stated that they had undergone a very detailed search at the first point and stated the following about these practices:
“İve been coming to the Imrali prison occasionally for 20 years, and have never been put through such a horrible search. There is not such a pointless application anywhere else. I’ve been very uncomfortable, it was unacceptable. After crossing the first search point, we passed 4 or 5 more search points. Then we were able to enter the prison. The families of other detainees in İmralı had also arrived. They split us into two parts. The first part was Veysi Aktaş’s sister and Ömer Hayri Konar’s brother, and the second part was me and Hamili Yıldırım’s family. The other three families had open meetings in separate rooms, and we held our meeting in the hall.”
MESSAGE TO ŞENGAL PUBLIC
Mehmet Öcalan disclosed that during the meeting, the discussions mainly gravitated around the hunger strikes and that they discussed the latest situation in northern Syria and Sengal. Mehmet Öcalan told the PKK leader that the people of Şengal love him and the Kurdish Freedom Movement and said
“True, I love them very much. We can talk about two incidents of Sengal’s freedom.
The first is Dewrêşê Evdî and the second is the struggle of our friends. The people of kadarzidî were massacred in a wide area from Şengal to Raqqa. However, in all these areas, we eliminated the forces that massacred and succeeded in avenging the Ezidî people. That’s why we’re happy.
I send my eternal respect and love to the people of Sengal. They should not worry anymore, they should continue to establish their own free lives.”
MORE STRUGGLE FOR FREEDOM
Abdullah Öcalan’s evaluations for northern Syria, along with Şengal are that:
“The people of Northern Syria need to fight more for their freedom. But they have to do it with all Syrian peoples. For the unity of Syria, all peoples must build a common life together. If they can achieve this, no one can end it.”
NEW METHODS FOR SOLUTION SHOULD BE DEVELOPED ’
Mehmet Öcalan disclosed that regarding the hunger strikes, the PKK leader said, “Hunger strikes are a method of action, but can be implemented to some extent. After a while, it can hurt everyone. After this stage, more democratic public activities need to be developed ”.
Mehmet also mentioned that The Peoples Leader criticized both Turkish and Kurdish politics. “They have gone through a period where they are completely blocked, and underlined that no results can be achieved with the policies of destruction and war”. He said that “the Turkish state could not get any results with the policy of destruction and war and therefore a new method is needed”.
The Peoples Leader said that “both the state and the PKK should develop new methods of solution. Again ‘No solution can be found through deaths. Methods for the solution of the problem, which will lead to an honorable peace, should be developed. There can be no solution with the destruction policies”.
CONDOLENCES TO FAMİLİES
Mehmet Ocalan disclosed that his brother feels deep sadness for those who died in protest of the isolation. The Leader conveyed his condolences to the families of every single one of those who ended their lives and said that he did not want these deaths to happen. Mehmet disclosed that his brother said: “These deaths caused great harm to both their families and me. This is not right. Politics is done to some extent over hunger strikes, the whole of politics cannot be done through hunger strikes. 8 friends ended their lives. Both in Europe and in South Kurdistan and in Turkey’s prisons there were hunger strikes. Those in prisons are already among the four walls, where they cannot make politics. They are already living in difficult conditions. Those who are out there have much more opportunities and can develop many more methods. Let the outsiders organize and strengthen their democratic reactions in this sense. This method would be a more accurate method”.
IF OPPORTUNITIES ARE CREATED, BLOCKAGES WILL BE REMOVED ’
Abdullah Öcalan also criticized both the state and democratic institutions about the blockage of the solution channels for the Kurdish problem, Mehmet Öcalan said. Mehmet Öcalan said that his brother said, “Where opportunities are created, they must be taken. This problem cannot be solved by the deaths in war ”.
THE ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION: WAIT
Mehmet Öcalan said that he asked his brother a question as to whether the meetings started in İmralı would continue. Öcalan’s response to this question was as follows: “I cannot say that the meeting channels are fully opened nor can I say that they are closed. We need to wait. It is good for everyone if these channels are fully opened. But if it closes completely, it will bring destruction to everyone. ”
THE ELECTIONS WERE NOT ON THE AGENDA
During the conversations of the PKK leader on June 23, Mehmet Öcalan said that he never mentioned the Istanbul elections to be renewed and that his brother celebrated everyone’s holiday on the occasion of Ramadan.
