BEHDİNAN, SOUTHERN KURDISTAN
HPG Press Center shared a detailed statement in relation to actions carried out by guerrilla forces in the Serhat and Heftanin regions. The Peoples’ Protection Forces detailed that enemy forces who had been set down on two different hills fought each other for over 35 minutes. While the amount of casualties during this battle remains unknown, the Guerrilla forces shared that helicopters landed on the hills 7 times to retreat corpses.
The statement made by HPG is as follows;
“On October 2, a person in the Glîdax region of Serhat province betrayed our forces and surrendered to the enemy. In line with the information provided by this traitor, the invading Turkish army launched a comprehensive operation in the region.
In the morning hours of October 3, the first contact between our forces and the invaders took place. After this contact, the area where the contact was experienced at 19:30 was heavily bombed by planes and this bombardment continued until 22:30. We did not experience any losses in these air strikes.”
Secret troops and soldiers fired at each other
The HPG continued to explain that the invading Turkish army landed troops in this area with 3 Cobra type helicopters and 5 Skorsky helicopters. The set-downs had been made on October 4, at 18:30, surrounding a point where the guerrilla forces were located, it was shared.
Explaining that the secret troops and the occupation soldiers who had been set-down by these helicopters had panicked, the Guerrilla forces explained that the invaders fought each other for 35 minutes.
HPG explained: “Afterwards, helicopters landed there 7 times to retreat the dead and wounded invaders from the area. The invading Turkish army stated that only one invader named Hüseyin Çıldır died, however, this is not true. There are more dead and injured people.”
Entered old points based on confessions of traitor
After the clashes between enemy forces ended, clashes broke out between the guerrilla forces who were trying to leave the besieged area and the invading Turkish soldiers, at 19:00 on October 5. “This conflict continued until 22:00. Many invaders were punished and injured here. The occupying Turkish army lifted the dead and wounded after bombing the area with helicopters until 23:00.
“On October 6, at 06:30, the invading Turkish army retreated one step. After this withdrawal, warplanes bombed the area where our forces were located. It bombed the same area 4 more times until the evening. At the same time, it wanted to narrow the area of our forces by bombing the area with helicopters.
With the information given by the element that betrayed on October 7, it narrowed the circle even more and entered some old points that our forces had already left.”
Used chemical weapons to destroy corpses of their own soldiers
The HPG shared that at 09:00 on October 9, the invadering Turkish soldiers attempted to attack another guerrilla point but were effectively surveilled and shot by the guerrillas who had been anticipating the attack. Explaining that the guerrillas punished the invaders whilst they least expected it, the HPG detailed that “3 specialist sergeants, including a senior petty officer, were punished. 1 gun and its magazines, 1 assault vest, 1 small device and 5 M16 magazines were consifscated from the corpses of the 3 invaders.”
“The bodies of the invaders remained under the surveillance of our forces for 12 hours here. The occupying Turkish army wanted to lift the dead and wounded from the area via helicopters. However, when it failed to do so, it used hand and gas bombs against our forces, but still could not break the control of the guerrilla.
On October 10, at 10:00, the invading Turkish army bombed the area of our forces with Phosphorus bombs and burned the corpses of the invading soldiers. As a result of this bombing, a fire broke out in the field.”
Turned attacks into revolutionary operation
“On October 11, another operation was started with cobra type helicopters. However, this operation did not progress much, and withdrew one step by the evening. This operation continued in different ways from October 12 to October 27.
Our forces maintained their calmness during this invasion operation, and with the style and tactics of the guerrilla of the new era, all orientations of the enemy technique were voided. By effectively maneuvering in the field, our forces voided all the siege and circle attempts and turned this attack into a revolutionary operation against the invaders.
The invading Turkish army, which was stuck in the face of the effective strikes and professionalism of our forces, had to renew its forces three times during the operation process. In addition to the occupiers, many contras and village guards participated in this operation. During this operation, the Turkish army also bombed their own corpses with howitzers and mortars, and burned their corpses with Phosphorus bombs.
The number of punished invaders determined by our guerrilla forces after their funerals is 3. However, more invaders were punished and injured. Three specialist sergeants, one of whom was a senior petty officer, were punished. At the same time, the invading commander who commanded the invasion operation was injured.
Developments in Heftanin
The HPG also shared updates of the war in Heftanin, explaining that on November 10, at 08:30, an action was carried out against the invading Turkish soldiers positioned on Xaç Hill in the Xantur area of the Heftanin region. “While a group was gathering in an occupation outpost, they were targeted and effectively shot by our forces. Here, 2 invaders were punished and the outpost was destroyed.”
The forces also stated that on November 10, the guerrilla forces carried out an assassination action against the invading Turkish army positioned on the Lower Hill in the Xantur area of the Heftanin region. “Here 1 occupier has been punished,” the forces continued:
“After both actions, the invading Turkish army randomly bombed the areas where the action took place, with heavy weapons.
The invading Turkish army carried out air strikes against Medya Defense Zones. The details of the attacks are as follows:
– On November 7 at 15:50, the vicinity of Şêhê Village in the Garê region was bombed.
– On November 8, at 11:50 am, the surroundings of Lewcê village in Kandil region were bombed.
– On November 9, at 19:00, the Kolit area in the Xakurkê region was bombed.
