DARMSTADT – The YXK student association informs that on Sunday, December 25, 2022, Kurdish youths in Darmstadt were attacked by a group of fascists while they were gathering to show their solidarity with the victims of the attack in Paris.
The YXK explained the incident with the following words:
“Around 11:20 the Kurdish youth gathered. They wanted to show solidarity with the victims of the attack in Paris. On Friday, December 23, 2022, 3 people were killed and others injured in the Ahmet Kaya Kurdish cultural center in Paris. While the French media and authorities portray the perpetrator as a mentally ill man, Kurds and Kurdish organizations claim that this was a terrorist attack organized by the Turkish state. There are many indications that the Turkish state was behind the attack. All three murdered people were Kurdish activists. The young people in Darmstadt wanted to show solidarity with the three fallen Emine Kara (Evîn Goyî), Mîr Perwer (M. Şirin Aydın) and Abdurrahman Kızıl. For this they took out Kurdish flags like the PKK flag.
Turkish fascists then began to insult the youth: “Erdogan will destroy you!” and “Terrorists!” they shouted. The Kurdish youths answered and defended themselves. A fight broke out between the two groups. According to the Kurdish youth, the Turkish fascists had pepper spray and knives with them.
The police who came to the scene took the personal details of the fascists and let them go, even though they provoked and aggressed. The fact that they were armed didn’t bother the police either. The Kurdish youths were taken to the police station and questioned by the police. The flags were confiscated. When the youth wanted to file a complaint against the fascists, the police said they couldn’t because it was the youth’s fault.
This incident is one of the other incidents of the last few days. In such cases, the anti-Kurdish racism of the German and French authorities meets Turkish fascism. In particular, the criminalization of the Kurdish freedom movement is the lynchpin of Turkish genocide policy.”
