BEHDINAN – Expressing its condolences to those who lost their lives in the two earthquakes in Mereş on February 6, the Committee said, “We wish all our Alevi souls who lost their lives in this great disaster that shook us all to perpetuate. We also wish God’s mercy on all our Muslim compatriots who lost their lives. We wish all the wounded to regain their health as soon as possible, and condolences to our peoples”
Responding to the questions sent by the ANF, the Committee stated the following:
“There is no doubt that an earthquake is a natural disaster. Nature, of which we are a part and in which we live, also has a working order. As an existence, it is constantly in motion, trying to establish its own balance according to its own language. In this respect, earthquake is a natural thing. What is unnatural is the way the human species, which has settled down, has met this earthquake. Although the fault lines are known, and where and the strength of possible earthquakes can be accurately predicted, it is an abnormal situation for people to experience the devastating consequences of an earthquake to such an extent. Again, there is no doubt that the responsible for this is the state, which has usurped the society’s right to self-government and has monopolized itself in all areas of life. Because unfortunately, these states are responsible for the order of the settlements where social life takes place. Therefore, TC is responsible for all the consequences of the two earthquakes centered in Mereş. Yes, so many people were killed without taking the necessary precautions, and the murderer is TC; its most capitalist, money-hungry and immoral government is the AKP-MHP government. It has massacred so many people by renting out places that should not be built, by earning rent under the name of ‘reconstruction peace’, by not taking any measures that should be taken even though Turkey and Kurdistan are earthquake zones, and by not fulfilling the requirements of earthquake regulations. There is no doubt that he will definitely give an account as responsible for this painful and shocking picture. THOSE CANNOT Escape From Accounting
The AKP-MHP government, which murdered so many people, showed once again how low, self-seeking and hostile to people it is by not providing the necessary aid to the people in the devastated cities and by preventing the people who want to help. It has been mobilized not to deliver aid to earthquake areas, but to hide its inhuman, manipulative, money-laden face, which is exposed like a ‘king naked’. Even though he’s murdered so many people, the only thing he still thinks about is prolonging his life in power. He thinks that he will do this by declaring a state of emergency, suppressing, threatening, trying to turn the truth upside down, even killing him. No matter what he does, he will not be able to escape from being held accountable for his actions.
THE GOVERNMENT SEES KURDISH FLAMES AS AN ENEMY THAT MUST BE DESTROYED
As it is known, the epicenter of the earthquakes was the regions where our Kurdish-Alevi people lived intensely. Our people living in the earthquake zone state that the reason why the Turkish Republic, which boasts of being ‘one of the most powerful states’ in the world, is trying to prevent even the aid sent by sensitive social segments and our people, let alone delivering aid to them, is that they are Kurds and Alevis, which is a fact. Because there is only one policy of TR since the day it was founded regarding these two identities, namely Kurdish and Alevi identities: that is genocide. Yes, the Kurds are a people who have wanted to be destroyed and subjected to genocide through physical genocide and cultural genocide attacks by being dissolved in Turkishness for a hundred years. Alevism is also a belief that is wanted to be dissolved and destroyed within the Turkish-Islamic nation-state. Here, the reason why the aid that was intended to be made in reverse while mobilizing should have been mobilized after the earthquake was prevented, is the Kurdish-Alevi identity of the regions that experienced the earthquake in the most destructive way. Since Kurdishness and Alevism are identities that are wanted to be destroyed and the earthquake took place in the Kurdish-Alevi region, the destruction and deaths turned into an opportunity for the genocidal policies of this government. Because this government sees the people of this region as the enemy that must be destroyed. Therefore, the fact that the genocidal Turkish Republic failed the people affected by the earthquake so much is not the result of impossibilities, but of a very conscious and planned policy of genocide.
IT WAS A GENOCIDE ATTACK IN MEREŞ IN 78
The epicenter of the earthquake is the regions where the Kurdish-Alevi population is concentrated, and the genocide of these identities is a state policy. This is a hundred years old policy. As it is known, right after the establishment of our party, that is, in December 1978, a major genocidal attack was carried out to clear Mereş, where the earthquake took place, from the Kurdish and Alevi population. While over a thousand of our people were brutally murdered, the rest were intended to leave the country. This was done with threats, blackmail and pressure. Again, local people were encouraged to leave Kurdistan. This happened both in the form of facilitating going abroad by the Turkish Republic and the acceptance of people who went out with the mask of ’embrace’ by some European countries with which they cooperated. What actually happened was the practicalization of planning a gladio. Accordingly, it was necessary to prevent our movement from taking root in the Kurdish-Alevi geography, where it was gradually developing. Here in this region, a genocide-evacuation policy, which has both historical and current aims, was implemented and it achieved some results. A very large population living here migrated from their ancestral lands, Kurdistan, to the metropolises, but mainly to Europe.
AKP-MHP POWER WANTS TO TURN THE EARTHQUAKE INTO AN OPPORTUNITY
What happened during the earthquake reveals that this policy of genocide-displacement-evacuation was wanted to be completed on the occasion of the earthquake. As a matter of fact, in the current situation, we have almost mobilized for the migration of our Kurdish-Alevi people from the earthquake zone. By not helping, by preventing the aid from going out, it is almost as if they are made to say ‘there will be no more life here’ and our people here are completely immigrated. In this way, the century-old policy of genocide and extermination will yield results, the places where Kurdish-Alevis live will be evacuated, and ‘immigrants’ that the TR has turned into an apparatus in the Kurdish genocide policies will be placed in their place. A while ago, it was reported in the media that camps were set up for immigrants, all Sunni Arabs, in places where the population is entirely Kurdish and Alevi in Mereş. Just that, It reveals what kind of policy is in place regarding the places where Kurdish-Alevism settles and what kind of demographic change they want to make. Now they want to turn the earthquake into an opportunity to reach a definite result in the systematically practiced evacuation-displacement-genocide policies.
OUR KURDISH FLAME PEOPLE SHOULD NOT LEFT THEIR SOIL
Even though this is the plan of the genocidal Turkish Republic, our Kurdish-Alevi people should be aware of this genocide and invasion plan, they should not leave the lands on which they sprouted, they should resist the policies in question by being more attached to their land and culture. It is our duty to support the resistance of our Kurdish-Alevi people in the strongest way possible to protect this existence of our Kurdish-Alevi people, as well as our people and all democratic segments other than the local people.
EARTHQUAKE REVEALED HOW LIVE AND SOLIDARY SOCIETY IS
The earthquake showed how anti-social the state is, how immoral and money-hungry the AKP-MHP government is, and how solidarity and alive the society is. On the one hand, it is a disgrace that cannot be explained with words, on the other hand, it is a virtue that all humanity can be proud of. On the one hand, they are creatures disguised as human beings but have long ceased to be human, on the other hand, they are the most beautiful and necessary examples of solidarity in human life. They were seen by the whole world as opposite poles of each other. Thus, it has once again emerged as an obvious truth that the leavens of the society and the ruling-statist forces are different.
While the ruling powers, who were responsible for the devastating consequences of the earthquake, were worried about saving their money safes and their supporters, and mobilized the press, which they turned the law enforcement officers into a special war tool, to cover up the facts, the people immediately rushed to the earthquake zones on the basis of the spirit of unity, fulfilling the requirements of the solidarity essence that comes from being human. He mobilized to bring all the help he could get there.
Now is the time to further enlarge this spirit of solidarity and togetherness, to heal the wounds inflicted on earthquake zones, and to increase the mobilization to overcome the difficulties experienced together. It is necessary to do this both in order to remove the funerals, to provide urgent needs, to solve the problems of shelter, and to permanently eliminate the devastating effects of the earthquake. Solidarity should be at such a level that our people should not have to leave their homes. Solidarity is needed to rebuild the destroyed settlements in more suitable places and in a solid way. For this, labor collectives can be formed, many houses can be built together, and living spaces can be rebuilt in a suitable way, under conditions where opportunities allow, by creating the necessary financial aid. There is nothing the society cannot do if it joins forces. Because the greatest power is the society itself. As long as we save ourselves from the exploitation of the individualist life imposed by capitalist modernity and the colonialist-genocidal regime that distances peoples from each other. The fact that all social segments of Turkey rushed to the earthquake area in mobilization after the earthquake and tried to deliver aid showed once again how unsuccessful capitalist modernity and the colonialist-genocidal regime were and how strong the community was. Everyone saw once again how helpless, weak and selfish the rulers were, and how solidary, sensitive and communal the society was. It was seen once again how alive the communal and social nature of man is despite all the attacks. Therefore, by connecting to the social, By leaning on it and raising it, we can relieve all the suffering and overcome all the difficulties experienced.
Undoubtedly, a great deal of work falls on the field of democratic politics in this regard. Because it is very important and necessary to organize this solidarity network. After all, democratic politics means solving the problems of society. It is the duty of the field of democratic politics to organize this solidarity and the spirit of unity in the society. Sensitivity and determination so far demonstrate that this can be achieved. Therefore, as social forces, we must do everything ourselves, without any expectation from the state and the ruling powers that are hostile to life, nature, society and people. Undoubtedly, a great deal of work falls on the field of democratic politics in this regard. Therefore, as social forces, we must do everything ourselves, without any expectation from the state and the ruling powers that are hostile to life, nature, society and people.
On the other hand, we must be in a struggle against the state and power that is responsible for all these destruction. We must fight and hold accountable. We must hold accountable for what they have done so that we can secure our nature, ourselves and the lives of all our peoples. Otherwise, Turkey and Kurdistan, which are earthquake countries, will face many similar destruction.”
