Dear Comrades
A year 2022 marked by war, counter-insurgency and the worsening of the global crisis is behind us and now, just beginning 2023, we see how this process of deterioration, far from being solved, leaves no room for doubt that it will continue to deepen and that World War III; the ecological and economic crisis; the militarization of society; states of emergency and climates of generalized panic will not only be the agenda of 2023 again, but will discover exponents that living generations have never known.
An arms and propaganda race has begun among the hegemonic states to achieve the new guarantee of their possible future victories: the artificial construction of scenarios of social panic and the proliferation of exaggerated and extravagant nationalist discourses that have as their ultimate goal the elimination of insurgency; establishing the policy of “Every citizen a soldier” and thus attempting to completely deny the peoples and their will, giving them only one possibility: in order to not perish, give all control and power to the state.
In this situation we are facing a totally uncertain future and a discouraging present if we do not confront these historical circumstances with a deep understanding of the renewed strategies of our enemies and their plans to try to implant absolute control over our societies until they are completely suffocated.
In the same way, this phase is opening a window of opportunity for the oppressed peoples, women and revolutionary youth of the world to bring together their ancestral experiences of struggle; to overcome the superficial differences that once divided us and to urgently concentrate all our energy on building the alternative that will allow us to defend life on our planet and step by step take it back from the hands of those who insist on destroying it.
That is why in this 10th edition of the Lêgerîn magazine we will try to build this deep understanding of the conditions in which we find ourselves today: the war and the crisis of capitalism. To prepare ourselves for this year 2023 which will be marked by the intensification of these conditions, but also by great organisational opportunities and strategies to build strong and long-lasting popular alternatives that open a way to hope in the midst of dark times.
Let us recognise once and for all that we are in the midst of a war of extermination. In the face of this, let us choose the only path where we will find love, happiness and beauty: The revolutionary struggle to liberate and recover our world!
