NEWS CENTER – Northern and Eastern Syria People’s Initiative reminded that they started a petition on January 22 with the coordination of Freedom for People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan Initiative-Syria. A statement was made in Qamishlo’s Heysem Kiçe Stadium regarding the results of the campaign, which was launched with the slogan “The peoples of Northern and Eastern Syria are calling for the isolation on Leader Öcalan to be lifted and his physical freedom.”
In the statement, “The people of Damascus, Lebanon and Bashur Kurdistan, as well as Northern and Eastern Syria, participated in the petition collection campaign launched on January 22, 2023 to ensure the physical freedom of Leader Abdullah Öcalan. Within the framework of the campaign, a total of 2 million 626 thousand 828 signatures were collected.
Calling on human rights organizations and the Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) of the Council of Europe to heed the calls, the initiative said, “No information has been received from Önder Öcalan for more than 23 months. In particular, the effects of the earthquake on Imrali Island have not been clarified,” it said.
The signatures were handed over to the Freedom for Leader Abdullah Öcalan Initiative to be handed over to the CPT.
