Iran’s Deputy Minister of Education Younes Panahi said after the news of the poisoning of the students was published that calls for the schools to be closed had grown louder and informed that the chemical substance contained in the poison is not very dangerous and can be treated. The Iranian Prosecutor’s Office stated that the poisoning was premeditated and should be investigated. At the same time, the public prosecutor announced that they had started investigations into the matter last week.
At least 35 schoolgirls were poisoned
Yesterday there was news of poisoning at Hayyam College in Tehran. At least 35 schoolgirls were poisoned. The exact statistics on the connections have not yet been published, but cases of poisoning of students and schoolchildren have been observed in 15 cities in the country.
The first case of poisoning in the country occurred in November 2022 at Noor Preparatory School in Qom, where 18 students were taken to the hospital. From that day until today, schools have been targeted. In February, at least 100 people attended a protest outside the governor’s building in Qum. They demanded that the people who did this be found and punished.
