BEHDINAN – Emphasizing that Newroz is a resurrection, a new life and a protest against the oppressors, Sozdar Avesta said, “The will and the great revolution of women, which emerged with the line of the oppressed, Egîds, Berîtans and Zîlans, should be crowned with a grand finale.” Stating that they are determined as the Kurdistan Freedom Movement, Sozdar Avesta said, “To realize Leader Apo’s physical freedom is the system that has been going on for a century; Destroying the Lausanne Treaty and fascism is no longer a dream,” he said.
KCK General Presidency Council Member Sozdar Avesta published a video message regarding Newroz 2023. Starting his speech by commemorating the martyrs of March, Sozdar Avesta said, “I commemorate the Newroz martyrs with respect and gratitude, in the person of Mazlum Doğan, Mahsum Korkmaz, Zekiye Alkan, Rahşan Demirel, Ronahî and Bêrîvan, Sema Yüce and Fikri Baygeldi. I bow respectfully before the memory of these martyrs,” she said. Reminding that many massacres took place in the current March, Sozdar Avesta’s message and call regarding Newroz is as follows:
“The massacres in Halabja, Qamishlo, Istanbul-Gazi and the occupation of Afrin in March 2018 were committed by fascist regimes who are hostile to Kurdistan. I condemn all these massacres once again, I respectfully commemorate the victims of this massacre. We left March 8 behind, we are now in the days of Newroz. Unlike previous years, women everywhere, especially in Bakurê Kurdistan, Turkey and abroad, could not greet them in the spirit of March 8 due to the earthquake disaster in Bakur.
With great resistance and great anger, women held accountable for this male-dominated fascist power that caused the disaster in the earthquake. I salute all the women who participated in these great protests around the world, in Kurdistan and the Middle East. I congratulate these great demonstrations of free will. As we move towards the women’s revolution with the slogan ‘Jin, jiyan, azadi’, we will welcome Newroz with the colors of freedom and the voices of women screaming for freedom.
On this March 8th, once again, it was seen that women are the core and main force in the emancipation of society. Resisting despite all the attacks, the woman showed her stance on the common struggle and her will with her insistence on the line of freedom. This is very important and meaningful. Women showed that no power can stop this current that is on its way to freedom. With a democratic and scientific attitude, there is a great deal of commonality with the philosophy of ‘Jin, jiyan, azadi’. We are lighting the fire of Newroz with this great partnership. This Newroz is also the 50th anniversary of Leader Apo’s freedom march. 2 thousand 635 years have passed since Newroz.
NEWROZ IS A REVIEW, A NEW LIFE
With the emergence of Leader Apo and the Freedom Movement, the fires of Newroz are lit more intensely and more powerfully. Newroz is the festival of the resisting people. Newroz is the resurrection. Newroz is a new life. Newroz is the herald of the arrival of spring. Newroz is a serhildan against the oppressors. It is the day of great reckoning. The first accountability began 50 years ago with a word from Leader Apo. One Newroz day, Leader Apo’s statement that ‘Kurdistan is a colony and an uninterrupted struggle and revolutionary people’s war must be waged for its liberation’ had a great meaning. It started with a word, and the fire burned with the spark of that word; For 50 years, it has become a torch of freedom in Kurdistan and abroad. This is the great feast; It was Leader Apo’s breathless resurrection marathon. I take this opportunity to greet Leader Apo wholeheartedly. I want to express my love, longing and gratitude towards him.
As the Freedom Movement, the people of Kurdistan, and the resisting women, we welcome the 2023 Newroz with great enthusiasm. This year’s Newroz is different from previous years. Because today, thousands of our people are still under earthquake debris. The number of those who lost their lives is still not fully disclosed. Because the number of casualties is much higher than the stated figure. I would like to take this opportunity to express that I share the pain of all families. Our people are a people who resist. Especially Mereş, Semsûr, Meletî and Dilok are the resistance zones of the Freedom Movement. Kemal Pirs in Mereş and Haki Karers in Dilok have great efforts. These friends, who were the pioneers of the Freedom Struggle, spread the idea of freedom to Kurdistan and Turkey. The enemy wants to change the demographic structure of these regions by evacuating them. On this occasion, I make the following call; Our people should not leave their land. No matter how hard the living conditions are, stay on your land and resist.
THE FASCIST ENEMY IS ATTACKING MORE THAN ALWAYS
As the Kurdistan Freedom Movement, we took a decision of inaction in the first days of this earthquake, as a requirement of humanitarian, conscientious and moral responsibility, and stopped the actions in the metropolises. Fascist enemies, dictator Erdoğan and Bahçeli are still continuing their attacks without interruption. They are attacking more than ever, both against the freedom guerrillas and in Northern and Eastern Syria, Bashure Kurdistan and Shengal. Freedom guerrillas are on the defensive. They carry out massacres almost every day in many regions. Finally, in the first days of March, the commanders of the YBŞ and security forces were martyred in the attacks in Shengal. My condolences to the families of these martyrs, YBŞ and all our people. Our people should know this well; They want to break the will of the people with these attacks.
In such an important process, although it will not be the same in terms of music and entertainment as in previous years, as the Freedom Movement in all areas they attacked, on the 50th Newroz year of Leader Apo’s freedom march, stronger than ever, with the spirit of resistance, revenge and accountability, Our people and freedom must rise up against what is in the blood of the guerrillas. Newroz itself is already serhildan, it is revenge against those who caused massacres throughout history.
THE GENOCIDES MUST HAVE NEWROZ TO CALL ACCOUNT
On this basis, it is now imminent to hold accountable those who carried out an aggravated isolation on Leader Apo, and those who perpetrated genocide on our people. This year in Bakure Kurdistan and Turkey; It should be the year of defeating fascism and destroying the palace of the oppressors. The realization of democratic autonomy in Bakur and Rojhilatê Kurdistan, the establishment of a democratic nation, the resolution of existing contradictions and the guarantee of the freedom revolution. Bashure Kurdistan must be liberated from the colonialists by resisting the attacks of the colonialists with the spirit of unity and national unity in Bashure Kurdistanê. A social revolution has been taking place in Rojhilatê Kurdistan for 6 months under the leadership of women with the slogan ‘Jin, jiyan, azadi’.
It is the centennial of Lausanne in this strategic process that we are in both at home and abroad. The de-statization of Kurdistan and its confrontation with massacres must now come to an end. Kurds can no longer live without status, identity and homeland. The struggle carried out with Leader Apo’s 50 years of effort turned into a breathless marathon.
DESTROYING LAUSANNE IS NO LONGER A DREAM
The will and the great revolution of women, which emerged with the line of the oppressed, Egîds, Berîtans and Zîlans, must be crowned with a grand finale. This year’s Newroz is so important and has many features. It is our duty to enlarge this struggle. We, as the Kurdistan Freedom Movement, are committed to this. Our agenda is clear. Realizing the physical freedom of Leader Apo, the system that has been going on for a century; Destroying the Lausanne Treaty and fascism is no longer a dream. The 25 years of struggle, especially Leader Apo’s uninterrupted resistance in Imrali, the attacks that have been going on for 8 years, the aggravated isolation and the level reached by the struggle that has continued for 50 years clearly reveals what we will do next. This awareness of our people at home and abroad,
Now is the time for the big reckoning. It is time to thwart any attack. It is time to gather around Leader Apo and the freedom guerrillas. It is a time for national unity on the basis of a democratic nation, the rights of the Kurdish people and the development of women’s freedom. It is time to secure the social revolution led by women. Our people have enough opportunities and opportunities in this regard. This march started out of nothing. Today, the KCK and KJK, which were established with an ecological and democratic confederalism system based on women’s freedom, left 18 years behind. For 18 years, this system has become the hope of freedom for peoples, society and women. Democratic nation, democratic confederalism is now organizing the world democratic confederalism. Finally, conferences and workshops that took place on the basis of this idea from Kurdistan to South Africa revealed the necessity of this.
WE WILL DEFINITELY SUCCESS IN THE LINE OF THE PEOPLE AND THE WITNESSES
The struggle against capitalist modernity is only possible with the development of modernity and democratic nation under the leadership of women. The freedom of women thus forms the basis of all freedoms. The insistence of the governments not to solve the women’s freedom problem is the main problem of our day. The struggle against it can bring a great victory. Today, only the Women’s Freedom Movement and the peoples of Kurdistan have the idea, philosophy and system of freedom. PKK and PAJK under the leadership of Leader Apo and martyrs; KCK is developing and advancing the democratic confederalism system of KJK day by day.
With this democratic system, the coming of Newroz; Leader Apo, let’s welcome the spring of freedom of humanity with all women. On this basis; I congratulate our people, all peoples and women on the 18th anniversary of the foundation of the KCK and KJK. The leader of the democratic confederalism system, who created this great idea and philosophy and gifted it to humanity; I salute Leader Apo once again. I congratulate Leader Apo, all women, prison resisters, freedom guerrillas, HPG and YJA Star’s Newroz. Again, I congratulate the Newroz of all peoples and friends who see Newroz as their own holiday at home and abroad. I want to point out that; We will definitely succeed on the line of Newroz, the line of Mazlum and Zekiyes. On this basis; “Biji Serok Apo”, “Jin, Jiyan, azadi”, “Biji Newroz.”
