NEWS CENTER – The success of the Rojava Revolution in 2012, favoured, among other things, the possibility to develop, create and promote culture and art. In 2015, the Rojava Film Commune was established and, since then, dozens of movies and documentaries have been produced.
Nûman Yigit and Haşim Aydemir are the directors of the ‘Evîna Kurd’ series prepared by Rojava Film Commune. Consisting of 15 episodes, the series draws attention to the developments in 2017-2018, 6 years after the 19 July Revolution. This is the second TV series. The first, Tava Sor (Red Sun), was released in June 2022.
The series is based on and recreates true stories. It focuses on the life of a family involved in the construction process of the Rojava Revolution. The shooting of the series started in May 2022 but it wasn’t easy. The crew had to stop working because of the attacks and threats by the invading Turkish state.
The Rojava Film Commune (Komina Film a Rojava) was established in July 2015 by local and international filmmakers under the auspices of the Rojava Revolution. The commune promotes the creation, production, and distribution of long, short films and documentaries.
