Sur resistance diary – Mustafa Yılmaz (Hogir Amed)
Day 69 of the Resistance. (February 8, 2016)
Due to the rainy weather yesterday, the enemy’s attacks were very limited throughout the day. But today, taking advantage of the sunny weather from the morning, the enemy, supported by helicopter gunships, launched attacks from all sides, like mad calves, again using heavily technical means, and continued uninterruptedly until the evening. We never wanted to have as much wet weather as we did during this period. Open air equals reconnaissance helicopters, Herons and Drones (miniature reconnaissance drones), so we don’t want sunny weather at all.
70th day of resistance… (February 9, 2016)
The farthest distance from the enemy (i.e. the center field) is 150 meters. Whatever happens, the end will be spectacular. The possibility of martyrdom for all of us is almost certain. We know this. There is almost no possibility of changing that. This is the reason why we are writing something in this notebook. Even if it is a summary of what happened here, even if it is just a few words, we write to be known, to be understood and known. We don’t think we are understood much from the outside. Only those who are here can understand this resistance, each day of which develops like a year.
Our resistance has not broken and will not break. We know that we will resist magnificently as the main cadres of the freedom movement. Even if we all fall martyrs, we know and believe that we are and will be the winners of this unjust war. We may not even have the opportunity to write about the days to come, but as my friend Çiyager said, “whatever the end is, it will be magnificent.” If we live, we would like to write a novel or make a movie about this resistance. Maybe then we would be better understood. When I say we are not understood, I mean we know that we are not alone, we know that the eyes of the world are on us, but what is being done to change what is happening here?
Şirnex resistance diary – Zeryan deniz Amed- 72nd day of resistance. (February 11, 2016)
The enemy is waging intense psychological warfare with announcements. “We have cleared Silopi and Cizre, we will send you to hell. If you want to live, surrender.” Yesterday, they launched intense attacks from the Four-Legged Minaret front. They suffered heavy blows from infiltration attempts there. One of the soldiers who entered a house was killed and his body was left on the ground. The enemy used intense gas, grenades and smoke bombs to take the body and two more soldiers who came to take the body were shot and all 3 bodies remained in our control for a long time. Later, the enemy took the body of the first soldier killed by hooking it, and when they tried to take the other body, a mine exploded. Both we and the enemy kept watch over the bodies until the morning. We also threw hooks to take the bodies, but we couldn’t take them because the wall was an obstacle. Likewise, the enemy couldn’t take the bodies either. The ladder was an obstacle for them too. This time the soldiers were different, they did not shout or swear in any way. They have been keeping watch at the same place (where the bodies are) for two days, we estimate that one body is still there.
One by one all the houses are being hit. Already Şırnak has turned into a complete ruin. This war is not hand-to-hand. We’re with our butter knives against the TSK’s high-tech weapons. They come with tanks, hedgehogs, cobras and fully armored vehicles. When they land sporadically, they run away with the sound of bullets. The enemy draws its strength from its technique. This situation shows us that the enemy is finished.
Avashin Resistance Diaries
A hundred soldiers for a guerrilla 2021
The aim of the Turkish army’s operation in the Avaşin Area is not only to settle on certain hills, to withdraw the guerrilla in these areas by a few levels, to wear down the force or to prevent guerrilla actions by cutting some passage lines. Judging from the way they move, the weapons they use and the areas they try to settle in, the aim of this operation is to completely finish the guerrilla. Their efforts are in this direction. Süleyman Soylu said in his statement that they will establish new bases in Metina and other areas. In other words, the Turkish state is trying to mitigate its crime with these sentences as if they will only come and build a few positions. The Turkish army is conducting an occupation operation, a genocide operation in the Zagroslard in front of the eyes of the whole world.
And it is doing it with chemical weapons and the most brutal methods. On the one hand, it is conducting an extermination operation in the Zagros in order to reach the Misak-ı Milliye that it dreams of so much with cross-border operations, and on the other hand, it is conducting an extermination operation in the Zagros in order to liquidate the guerrillas, the most resisting freedom force in Kurdistan against capitalist modernity, colonialism and all sovereigns. And it is doing this not only with its own soldiers, but also with the remnants of gangs, contras, guards and betrayers it recruits from here and there.
In the war carried out with the participation of these gangs, the Turkish army obviously does not have a problem of safety, so it continues to drop 100 soldiers per guerrilla. Friends were also making fun of this situation.
Day 57 of the resistance
June 19, 2021 57th day of the Resistance
As the resistance in Werxelê grew, so did the enemy’s tendencies, the ugliness of the methods it used and the level of war crimes it committed. In the battles that have been going on around this tunnel for days, the enemy has suffered dozens of casualties. Their bodies are still at the entrances of our tunnels, they don’t even have the courage to come and take their bodies.
The soldiers, who could not find a response to their calls for surrender, were threatening the friends with the use of chemicals and trying to play with the emotions of the friends by saying “we will make you like those in Mamreşod”. Doing like those in Mamreşod meant poisoning friends with chemical gases in the tunnels. Everyone knew this well. Before using chemical gas in Mamreşo, the enemy had tried to close the doors on the friends by making violent explosions in the tunnels, then they had released chemical gas through the holes they had opened and suffocated the friends inside. Now he is doing the same thing in Werxelê.
Each time, looking at our comrades, we couldn’t help but ask ourselves. Where does this resistance, this belief and this determination come from? What is the power that makes such young people fight so hard? How is it that one can resist like this for days without sleep? Yes, this resistance was our sleep, our dream, our water and our bread. We had nothing else but this. They were fighting with their superior technology, with their gases and chemicals, with their airplanes and bombs, devoid of faith and will to resist. That is why they would surely be defeated tomorrow, if not today.
In front of our Werxelê Tunnel gates, the enemy was trying a more strange method this time. They were pouring 60 kg of gasoline they had collected in front of the tunnel entrances into the entrance of the tunnels and trying to set the tunnel on fire. In other words, they were going to burn the friends who were resisting inside. The meaning of burning was really different. The message they wanted to send this time was very different from the others. When we see what the enemy did against us in Werxelê, we think of what happened in the basements of Cizre. During the Cizre self-governance resistance, they burned our friends alive in those basements, and although years have passed, the bodies in those basements are still coming to light, and the brutality of the Turkish state is coming to light. This means not leaving any trace of us, destroying us. Is this the first time we are being burned at the hands of our executioners? The victim is no longer the victim and the executioner is no longer the executioner. Are you burning us? Don’t you know that we re-create ourselves from our ashes every time?
