BEHDÎNAN – The press center of the HPG announced in a written statement that the Fedaî commander Delîl Zagros fell in 2022 in the attacks of the occupying Turkish state in Girê Amediye Şehîd and stated:
“Our comrade Delîl Zagros, the commander of the Girê Amediye resistance area targeted by the occupying Turkish army in 2022, fell to Şehîd. Our comrade Delîl was the architect and commander of the resistance who stopped the advance of the invaders for months, dealing the first and most effective blows to the invaders, punishing hundreds of invaders and crashing two helicopters containing the corpses of the soldiers of the Turkish army’s special forces confiscated and exposed the reality of the invading army to the general public and finally caused the Turkish army to flee Girê Amediye without any result. Comrade Delîl, who has always made it his basic character to be in the forefront, to make sacrifices, to march with great courage and the spirit of Fedaî, played a historical role by participating in the resistance process on the same basis. Comrade Delîl was badly wounded by the bombardment while looking for a strike against the enemy trying to occupy the Medya Defense Zones, but he could not be saved and achieved martyrdom. Our comrade Delîl Zagros, who got to know the reality of the Şehîds created by the PKK from an early age, was born into a welatparêzen family belonging to the Alan tribe of Shax district of Van. The Alan tribe is a branch of the Ertûşî tribal confederation, a large Kurdish tribe committed to social values. Our comrade Delîl grew up with the culture of the ancient Alan tribe and the welatparêzen environment in which he was strongly committed to societal values. Our comrade Delîl, who completed such a practice in the first year of his guerrilla activity, joined the Hêzên Taybet (Special Forces) organization to further increase his participation, continue the revolutionary path at the Fedaî level and realize the victory guerrilla. At Hêzên Taybet, he received training from our great Fedaî commanders, comrades Şervan Varto, Bawer Hakkarî and Xelîl Jêhat, and showed invaluable involvement by throwing himself wholeheartedly into the role of Fedaî. After successfully completing the training, he was involved in the sensitive and critical work within the main command of our People’s Defense Center in Hêzên Taybet. For three years he has performed many different activities and tasks alongside our main command and all his work and tasks have been carried out with absolute success. He was of great merit and played an important role in the work of the headquarters.
He viewed the time he served as headquarters commander as a very instructive school of revolution and sought to respond by embodying the style, pace and discipline of the organization in his personality. He tried to respond to the criticism of the apoist militants with the slogan “war seeks its commander”, becoming the commander of victory and self-criticizing an insufficient Hevaltî. Although our comrade Delîl had only eight years of schooling, he not only limited himself to practical work, but also took as a basis the deepening of the apoist ideology, the paradigm and the strategy of the revolutionary people’s war. At different moments of his life he had a pickaxe and a shovel in his hands, a bomb and a gun, a pen and a book. He researched and analyzed the history of the war, read historical figures and generals with great admiration and enriched his personality on the basis of the lessons he learned from them. Comrade Delîl, who approached the formations with great responsibility, took them as a basis to pass on what he had learned to his comrades, not limiting it to words but showing it in practice, pioneering every moment of life. Comrade Delîl, the commander of the Fedaî, was a role model for hundreds of his comrades, giving them strength, guidance and help, becoming a source of hope and morality through his sincere hevaltî.
