LONDON – Today TekoJin/JXK joined the UCU strikers across universities in London. At the front of the picket lines, Rahila Gupta, an internationalist activist spoke about the Rojava Women’s Revolution, and a member of JXK spoke about the importance of alternative educations through the eyes of the Kurdish freedom movement. The speeches ended with a call to join the Free Ocalan campaign and implement the ideology of womens liberation and critiques of positivism into the UK universities curriculum. Additional speeches from other organizers were made about the human rights violations of Imrali, Guantanamo Bay, and the imprisonment of Julian Assange.
The following statements were made by nergiz slemani:
“While protesting unfair living wages are an important tactic towards liberation, it can not be the goal. Under capitalism, the exploitation of educators will not end with “better wages”.
Our goal and perspective is to create alternative systems of education and knowledge production that understands class, gender and ecological obstacles.
This includes serok’s critiques of positivism, the role and power dynamics of university grounds, academia, history, and indoctrination of liberal ideology against the youth.
With Serokatî’s analysis, we must build networks of solidarity and share libration knowledge across communities of oppressed peoples. This year is the year of freedom for Ocalan, and freedom for kurdish people in the homeland and beyond.~
