NEWS CENTER – Exactly two years ago, Asrin Legal Office informed that the relatives of Adullah Öcalan, Ömer Hayri Konar, Hamili Yıldırım and Veysi Aktaş had been summoned to the local prosecutors’ offices to have phone conversations with the four prisoners of the Imralis torture and genocide system. “The conversation between Mr. Ocalan and his brother has been interrupted after a very short time and could not be continued. Mr. Hamili Yıldırım’s phone call also lasted for a very short time. The talks with Mr. Ömer Hayri Konar and Veysi Aktaş did not take place because both of them declared that they refuse to talk in protest against the isolation conditions,” explained the lawyers of Asrin Law Office.
To the last contact with Rêber APO took place on April 27, 2020. The last conversation that the lawyers could have with their clients was on August 7, 2019.
Since then, the lawyers of Asrin Law Office, as well as the relatives of the prisoners, have been struggling to establish contact with the prisoners and to learn about their condition, their situation.
For two years there has been no contact with the prisoners, for two years neither the lawyers, nor the relatives, nor the public know how the prisoners are doing in the Imrali torture and genocide system.
The responses the lawyers have received sporadically from the Turkish judicial system to their requests for visits are clear. It is answered with alleged disciplinary procedures against Rêber APO, which were given under flimsy reasons. Various disciplinary sanctions have been enforced against their client without the lawyers being informed. In the meantime, a visit by the CPT to Imrali took place from September 20 to 29, 2022, of which the lawyers were only informed after the fact.
The CPT has not yet published a report on the visit, the only thing that has become clear is that the CPT did not meet Rêber APO in Imrali. For what reason, however, it was not disclosed. The Turkish occupying state uses the missing information in the public to intimidate, deceive and manipulate the public according to its interests with the methods of special and psychological war.
However, the Kurdish society in Kurdistan and abroad knows the dirty methods of the Turkish occupying state and the imperialist powers. The Kurdish society, under the leadership of the youth and the young women, has been carrying out a lot of actions in order to emphasize their demand for the physical freedom of Rêber APO. Right, they are no longer protesting just to get a message about Rêber APO and the other prisoners in Imrali. They are protesting for the end of the isolation torture and imprisonment of their chairman, they are protesting for the physical freedom of Rêber APO for the end of the Imrali torture and genocide system and with his release for the solution of the Kurdish question and the democratization of Turkey.
Especially the youth have brought their attachment to Rêber APO to the forefront with their continuous actions for Rêber APO’s physical freedom and whether in the free mountains of Kurdistan, in all four parts of Kurdistan or in other European countries they have stood up for their chairman’s physical freedom.
Also the internationalsitic youth showed especially during the Long March in February this year that they also stood up with all their power for the physical freedom of Rêber APO, who has warmed the hearts of thousands of people and enlightened the minds of thousands and thousands of people worldwide with his paradigm, his thinking and his philosophy. Even after two years of lack of contact, after two years of uncertainty, the hope of the Kurdish society and the international community is not extinguished. The demand of the physical liberation of Rêber APO is still maintained everywhere, demanded everywhere and with the arrival of the new year, with Newroz, which has heralded the second 50th year of Rêber APO’s freedom march, this demand will surely become reality.
