BEHDINAN – KCK Executive Council Co-chairman Cemil Bayık participated in the Special Program broadcast on Stêrk TV and made evaluations about the developments in Kurdistan, Turkey and the Middle East.
Stating that the conference held in Lausanne on the 100th anniversary of the Treaty of Lausanne, which is the genocide treaty for the Kurdish people, is very important, Bayık stated that as the Kurdish Freedom Movement, they will fulfill their role in order to fulfill the decisions taken at the conference.
Pointing out that the Turkish state has used all its means in its war against the Kurdish Freedom Movement for the last 8 years, Bayık said, “I don’t think there is a power in the world that has been subjected to such attacks. These weapons were not used in world wars. It would not be 8 years if there was another power in the PKK’s place. He could not resist even for 8 months. Despite the heavy costs we inflicted, we did not allow the invading Turkish state to achieve its goal, and congratulated the success of all HPG and YJA-Star guerrillas who displayed a historic resistance against the invaders. “

The isolation against Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan has reached a state of torture. There has been no news of him for two years. Reactions against the isolation also continue. Finally, KCK Executive Council member Sabri Ok made a statement. How do you evaluate the recent developments?
The politics carried out against Rêber Apo concerns not only the Kurds but all humanity. For this reason, reactions to politics against Rêber Apo are increasing day by day in the international arena. A conference was held in Lausanne, and some decisions were taken. Calls were made for the physical freedom of Rêber Apo. Again a few days ago, unions, some intellectuals and municipalities held a meeting in Belgium. At that meeting, they also called for the physical freedom of Rêber Apo. I congratulate and greet those who made this call and those who took part in the meeting. Those calls are very important. I believe that those who made this call will lead the way to ensure the physical freedom of Rêber Apo. Because they have been fighting on this basis for years.
With both the Lausanne conference and the meeting held in Belgium, they opened a new page and developed a new move. Our movement will also take its place in this move. We can make some moves on this basis in the near future. On this occasion, I call on the four parts of Kurdistan and our people abroad. Every Kurd must take part in the move developed to ensure the physical freedom of the Leader, and fulfill his or her duty. Everyone knows that a very dirty war is being waged against Rêber Apo. He has been in absolute isolation for more than two years. If the occupying enemy achieves his goal with his policy, he will end the genocide against the Kurdish people. That’s why they impose such a heavy isolation on Rêber Apo. The fascist Turkish state does not recognize any humanitarian, moral or legal decision. That’s why they act arbitrarily.
This policy against the Kurdish people in the person of Rêber Apo is being reacted by the forces of democracy and freedom in the international arena. The Turkish state is uncomfortable with this because they show their reactions with actions. The Turkish state knows the importance of Rêber Apo for the Kurdish people and humanity. That’s why they increase the torture against Rêber Apo day by day. For example, there are some Turkish officials; They made some empty speeches. They told Rêber Apo, “If you do not accept our demands, we will kill you day by day.” In fact, Tuncer Kılınç (Former MGK Secretary General) said, “Every day in İmralı is equivalent to execution, every day we execute him.” In Imrali, politics is carried out on this basis. Therefore, the most important agenda for everyone in every field should be the physical freedom of Rêber Apo. If the agenda is set on this basis, we can nullify the policy carried out against the Kurds in the person of Rêber Apo. That is our duty.
Our people understand very well this policy of the Turkish state. They say that they give disciplinary punishment to Rêber Apo every day, in this way they prevent lawyers and families from visiting. How can a person commit a crime if he can’t talk to his family, lawyers, or write letters? From this, we understand that they are making purely political decisions. Rêber Apo is also displaying a historical resistance against this dirty politics. Rêber Apo stands against this policy and represents his people and humanity. That’s why the Turkish state wants to get results with grudge and hatred against Rêber Apo. They impose such a severe isolation so that Rêber Apo’s voice does not reach the public. I believe that those who took part in the Lausanne Conference and the meeting in Belgium will develop new moves for the physical freedom of Rêber Apo and we as a movement will take part in this move.
8 years ago, on July 24, 2015, the Turkish state launched a massive attack against the Kurdish people and the Medya Defense Zones. These attacks have continued uninterruptedly for 8 years. In its latest statement, HPG stated that the KDP participated in the operations in Xakurkê together with the Turkish state and acted together with the occupying forces in other areas. How is the war now?
The last 8 years are very important in our struggle. Of course, our struggle has gone through many difficult processes, but an even more difficult war has been going on for the last 8 years. The Turkish army is the second strongest in NATO. That’s why NATO and some states give all the weapons they have to the Turkish state. They are supportive in every way. When it comes to the PKK and the Kurds, they use all kinds of weapons. They use everything from chemical weapons to tactical nuclear weapons. For the last 8 years, the Turkish state has used all its means in its war against our movement. It attacks the guerrilla 24 hours a day, morning and evening. They attack day and night with tanks, artillery, planes and chemical weapons. HPG stated in its statement that there were more than 500 attacks per day.
I don’t think there is a power in the world that has been attacked so much. These weapons were not used in world wars. The aim of the Turkish state is to complete the genocidal move it has developed against the Kurdish people. If there was another power in the PKK’s place, it would not have been able to resist for 8 years, not even 8 months. This is also a fact. Both Rêber Apo, the PKK guerrilla and the Kurdish people have been displaying a historical resistance for 8 years. We pay a great price because there is a great resistance. Because the struggle we are waging is not only for ourselves, but also for the Middle East and humanity. That’s why the cost is heavy. Despite the heavy prices we paid, we did not allow the invading Turkish state to achieve its goal. Because in the 100th anniversary of Lausanne, they aimed to liquidate the PKK and to massacre the Kurdish people. So they used all their means. But against this, Rêber Apo, The PKK and the Kurdish people put up a heroic resistance. On this occasion, I greet all HPG and YJA-Star guerrillas with respect and love, who are fighting, fighting and displaying a historical resistance against the invaders in the tunnels and lands, I present my gratitude and congratulate them on their success.
THERE ARE TWO LINES IN KURDISTAN
On the other hand, there is the situation of KDP and Barzani. All Kurds with a conscience are having difficulties because of the situation exhibited by the KDP and Barzani, they are reactive. Because the KDP and the Barzani family act together with the Turkish state. They put all their resources at the service of the genocidal state, and they do not see this as something wrong. They even say that we represent the Kurds, we serve the Kurds. The Turkish state is killing Kurdish youth with the help of the KDP. Therefore, our people should understand and interpret the relations between KDP-Barzani and the Turkish state. Their relationship still continues.
It was also in the press. The Turkish state and KDP are conducting operations against the guerrilla in Xakurkê. Again in the Zap, they take the identity of the peshmerga and dress them in the clothes of Turkish soldiers. In this way, they make the Turkish soldiers fight against the guerrilla. Turkish soldiers come out of the Barzanis outpost and attack the friends. On the day of the Lausanne Conference, which was a national conference, its purpose was the development of national alliance, the Barzanis were conducting an operation against the guerrilla on the side of the Turkish state. Therefore, everyone should see and understand their reality. What does it mean to unite with the enemy and carry out an operation against the guerrilla? Everyone should think about it.
There are two lines in Kurdistan; one is the freedom line, the other is the betrayal and collaborative line. No more lines. The Kurds cannot take part in the line of betrayal and collaboration, they cannot side with the Turkish state, they cannot fall into the blood of Kurdish youth together with the Turkish state. This has nothing to do with being Kurdish. Our people should see this reality and act accordingly.
On the 100th anniversary of Lausanne, all parties except the KDP came together in Lausanne. They gave a unity photo at the place where the Kurdish genocide treaty was signed. How do you evaluate the coming together of all parties? What does the conference held in Lausanne mean?
The conference in Lausanne is a step taken for national unity in the history of the Kurdish people. This created hope and faith not only among the Kurdish people, but also among other peoples living in Kurdistan, people of different faiths. Lausanne is a genocide document for Kurds, Armenians, Assyrians-Assyrians, Alevis and Yazidis 100 years ago. It’s a covered conspiracy. By fighting against the alliance in Lausanne, Rêber Apo helped to understand the reality of Lausanne. The conference held in Lausanne 100 years later showed the world the reality of Lausanne. The Kurds stated that the Lausanne alliance meant the Kurdish genocide and they did not accept this alliance and they would not live with it. They tore up that alliance. The Lausanne conference expresses this.
The Turkish state and its collaborators made great efforts to prevent the conference from being held. But they could not prevent it, their strength was not enough. Because the resistance of the Kurds is growing day by day in all parts of Kurdistan and abroad, and their friends are also increasing.
THAT DAY KDP-BARZANI OPERATIONS ON THE GUERILLA WITH THE TURKS
The conference in Lausanne was very important. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate everyone who contributed to the conference, who took the decision of the conference and brought it to life, and convey my greetings. They did a very historical work and rendered a great service to the Kurdish people and other peoples. So it was a very important work. Everyone wanted the KDP and Barzani to participate. They even worked on it. On such a historic day, they wanted the enemy to stand with their people, not with the invaders. That was everyone’s request. However, KDP and Barzani did not attend the conference because they tied their relations and their fate to the Turkish state. Those who wanted the unity and freedom of the Kurds came together at the conference in Lausanne. It was the Barzanis who did not come. The Kurds were holding a conference in Lausanne, and the KDP-Barzani was conducting an operation against the guerrilla together with the Turks. The Kurdish people tore up the Lausanne alliance, but KDP-Barzani claimed it. This is the meaning of their standing with the Turkish state and not participating in the conference.
THE STRONG STEPS TAKEN AT THE CONFERENCE MUST BE CONTINUED
The Lausanne alliance means the denial and destruction of not only the Kurdish people, but all other peoples and different beliefs in Kurdistan. That’s why the Kurdish people and other peoples living in Kurdistan do not accept the Treaty of Lausanne. The world needs to understand this now. The decisions taken at the conference are important, but they must be implemented. It is not just about making a decision, it is necessary to be a follower. Not only the PKK, but all peoples living in Kurdistan are responsible for this. Maybe everyone’s responsibility is different, but everyone should take responsibility and fulfill it. Whoever has power in the country or abroad should take charge and fulfill it according to how much power he has. Everyone has to fulfill their responsibilities for their country, people and humanity. It should not be limited to conferences only. A strong step was taken at the conference and it should be continued. It is necessary to fulfill this with platforms or different studies until we get results. This is everyone’s duty.
WE ARE READY TO DO WHAT IS REQUESTED OF US
At the conference, calls were made to ensure the physical freedom of Kurdish People’s Leader Öcalan, and to organize a national unity conference by developing a great alliance among the Kurds. As the biggest power in Kurdistan, what is your response to these calls?
First of all, I must state that we take all the decisions and calls made at the conference in Lausanne as a basis. We will help in every way to put these decisions into practice. We will do our part to implement the decisions, we are ready to do whatever is asked of us.
The decision taken to ensure the physical freedom of Rêber Apo is very important. Everyone had such expectations from the conference. Because Rêber Apo is the representative of the Kurdish people. The Kurdish people want to live freely like other peoples. The physical freedom of Rêber Apo is the main condition for the Kurdish people to live freely in their lands with their own identities and cultures. The freedom of the Kurdish people will not be realized until Rêber Apo leaves Imrali. Democracy will never develop not only in the Kurds but also in Turkey. Anyone who wants the Kurdish problem to be resolved, who wants the Kurds to live freely, who wants Turkey’s democratization, must stand against the isolation imposed upon Rêber Apo. If they do not stand up, neither freedom in Kurdistan nor democracy in Turkey will be achieved. I am a democrat, socialist, artist, Anyone who says I am intellectual, against fascism, and wants democracy and freedom should take this as a basis. The measure of being a democrat, being a socialist, being a Kurd is to stand against the isolation against Rêber Apo. There can be no other measure than this, no one should deceive himself. That’s why everyone should fight for the physical freedom of Rêber Apo. Then the Kurdish problem will be resolved, democracy problems in Turkey will be solved.
IF NATIONAL UNITY DEVELOPS, THE LIBERTY OF THE KURDISH PEOPLE WILL BE PROVIDED ONE PERCENTAGE
Another big decision taken at the conference is the establishment of a Kurdish national conference. This decision is also very important. There has never been a people in the world that was as fragmented, dispersed, tortured and displaced as the Kurdish people. No people have lived under the rule of others as much as the Kurdish people. This is real. Therefore, national unity is very important for the Kurdish people. He established many popular unions in the world. Maybe there are some exceptions left. Among those exceptions are the Kurdish people. They divided the Kurdish people. So much so that they left the Kurds weak. Kurdish enemies take courage from this fragmentation. If national unity develops among the Kurds, the freedom of the Kurdish people will be ensured. This is one hundred percent.
There is a good opportunity for the Kurds today. Yes, there are dangerous situations, but there is also a good situation. If the Kurdish unity is established urgently, the Kurds can achieve their freedom. Therefore, the decision taken at the conference is very important and historical. All Kurds, and even all peoples living in Kurdistan, should work for a national unity conference to take place as soon as possible. If the unity of the Kurds develops, then the Kurdish people will win and their hopes will come true. The Kurdish people have been fighting for years, they can get results from this struggle by ensuring their national unity. My call to everyone is to fulfill their responsibilities on this basis.
The AKP carries out all its politics through the ‘Plan of Collapse’, which it has put into action against the Kurdish people. And now it’s oscillating between NATO and Russia. He also held some meetings in Arabia. How do you evaluate the latest situation?
As it is known, AKP-MHP fascism has starved all peoples in Turkey and condemned them to poverty. We see this on the news every day. AKP-MHP carries out a politics of perception based on lies and demagogy. People live with these perceptions. In this way, they try to hide the plight of the people. Because they know that when the people realize the truth, they will not be able to stay in power. Again, they are deceiving the people with empty words. There is terrorism, there is separatism, the Kurds will divide Turkey, they will destroy us; That’s why they deceive and scare the people by saying that we must defend ourselves, and that’s how they stay in power. They maintain their power entirely based on war. They carry out such a policy outside of Türkiye. They say that we have Ottoman history, we will take back the lands we had during the Ottoman period.
For this reason, the Turkish state has not had much credibility in the international arena. Because they invested all their resources in the war, their economy has collapsed, and politics has collapsed. This is also taken into account. And they make the public pay for it. Every day they make a raise after a raise. The people have forgotten everything; He was worried about how to live, how to live his children. They are consciously pursuing this policy. Let the people chase their bread so that they forget other things, and the AKP-MHP maintain their power in this way. This is exactly their policy. They also benefit from the absence of opposition in Turkey. There is no opposition to explain this policy of the government to the society and enlighten the society on this issue. This is the main problem in Turkey. Therefore, the Labor and Democracy Alliance should make the society understand the problems created by the government.
It should organize and mobilize society on this basis. Because, apart from the Labor and Democracy Alliance, there is no other opposition to do this job in Turkey. This task falls to them. If they make the people understand the facts, organize and mobilize the people, the people will also rise up. Because the people are not satisfied with this government. They have a huge backlash against them. When the Labor and Democracy Alliance realizes this, the AKP-MHP government cannot cause such a big problem to the peoples of Turkey. Especially every day there is time, they are doing a great cruelty to the people. People are even in need of drinking water. People’s electricity and water are cut off. Again, armored vehicles are killing our people in Kurdistan every day. Nobody is asking for bills. The poor got poorer, the rich got richer. Hunger, plunder and cruelty are increasing day by day. Ecology is being destroyed.
THE PEOPLE OF Türkiye SHOULD UNDERSTAND THAT THE CRISIS IS A RESULT OF THE WAR
I saw in the press; They go and cut the trees in the forest. An 88-year-old woman even took away a woman of that age, who was hugging her tree so that they would not cut it down. They are destroying human life. They already know no borders in rape, massacres continue. Against both women and youth… Heroin, prostitution… They carry out this policy especially in Kurdistan. They are also developing spying in Kurdistan. They continue the arrest and torture without limits. Therefore, Labor and Democracy Forces can dwell on all these problems. Who is doing them, what is their purpose; public should be told and understood. When the public sees this reality, they already take action. Everyone should know that the AKP-MHP government is weak. They make themselves look strong, but they are weak. Because the problems in Turkey are increasing day by day. There is a great crisis; It’s not just the economic crisis. social, political,
They aim to get out of these crises by creating some false agendas. That’s why they sell everything. There is nothing left to sell. They go to many countries and try to solve this crisis with money. This way they will not be able to solve the problems. Unless they give up the dirty war they are waging against the Kurdish people, they cannot solve these problems. All the peoples of Turkey should understand that the problems they are experiencing are the result of the war against the Kurds. If they want to get rid of these problems, they should say enough is enough for the AKP-MHP, not to wage this war. They should say that the Kurdish people must accept the reality, accept the demands of the Kurds, change their policy towards the Kurds, and solve their problems through dialogue with the Kurds. There is no other way than this. Türkiye cannot get out of the crisis in any other way.
9 years ago, ISIS gangs committed a massacre against the Yazidi people. HPG-YJA Star guerrillas came to the rescue of Shengal and prevented further massacres. Do you have any message you would like to give on the occasion of the 74th Ferman’s anniversary for the Yazidi people?
Our Yazidi people have lived through 74 edicts so far. 74. The purpose of the edict was to exterminate all Yazidis through genocide. If they haven’t been able to achieve their goals, it’s because of the PKK. Because the PKK prevented it. Even before the edict, Rêber Apo ordered our movement to protect our Yazidi people. Our movement also took care of our Yazidi people on this basis. If our 12 friends who went first did not take care of the people, if the YPG-YPJ did not go later, if the HPG power had not gone, if that corridor of humanity had not been opened, they would have brought the Yazidi people through a genocide.
OUR ZIDİ PEOPLE SHOULD CONTINUE FIGHTING WITH Courage
The Êzidî people cannot live anywhere other than their lands, Shengal. If the Êzidî people can still live on their land, it is because of the intervention of PKK guerrillas and YPG-YPJ forces. That intervention prevented the Yazidi genocide. They wanted to completely expel the Yazidis from Shengal. They would slaughter those they killed, and they would take out the others. If that intervention had not occurred, the Yazidis would have ended. Because once you leave your land, your country, you can no longer live. That’s what genocide is. Such a danger has been averted. Many prices have been paid. As a result, today the people in Shengal continue their lives with their identity, religion and values.
Our Yazidi people are stronger today than they were before the 74th Edict. Yes, there are attacks by the Turkish state and the Barzanis, this should not mean that all their problems have been resolved. The Êzidî people still have problems, but despite all the problems, they have their own institutions, they can now defend themselves. On this basis they formed an alliance. This alliance is very important. That’s why they need to be strengthened even more. That alliance should develop a solution for Shengal. This is what is required of them. They should develop a status for the Shengal and Yazidi people. In that alliance, there are peoples and beliefs other than Yazidis. If they work on this basis, Shengal can gain status. On this occasion, I commemorate the martyrs of our Yazidi people with respect. Without those martyrs, without that resistance, the Yazidi people might not exist today. Not only Yazidis, The situation of the Kurds and other peoples in the Middle East could have been different. That’s why that resistance created not only values for Yazidis, but also for other peoples and humanity. That’s why I once again greet our Yazidi people, congratulate them for their struggle and offer my respects. Let them believe in themselves, have confidence in themselves, and further strengthen the alliance they have developed. If they fight with great determination and courage on this basis, they will achieve their goals.
