BEHDINAN – Being a guerrilla means ‘I am here’ when it is said that ‘everything is over here’ for a country, emerging from under the discarded dead soil. It is to shout out the honor of the country when everyone is ravaged by the tyranny of the empires of fear. While everything about the Kurd is condemned to aridity, it is raining and wetting the ground cracked by despair. A guerrilla is like a tree of revolution, determined to rise against oppression. Like a revolution, like a revolutionary heart…
Devrim was born on a summer morning in 1999 in Batman. He was the son of a coach family who settled in Batman after their long journeys in the mountains, when Leader Apo uttered the words ‘Koçers represent the unspoiled and clean veins of the Kurd’. He spent his childhood in a society that values people for being human and where every bond is knitted with love. He learned patriotism the most, at the table of his patriotic family, who still keep this essence alive even in cities. He met Egîd in the epic stories told on the streets of Batman. Once patriotism penetrated his veins, Egîdian anger accumulated at the enemy, and he set his eyes on the mountains of Kurdistan from the city where he lived. He joined the PKK when his decision became clear.
FIRST TO THE ROJAVA REVOLUTION
Although the mountains of Kurdistan were his compass, the burning developments in the Rojava Revolution in those days were pulling towards him and he could not remain indifferent. A people tried to be killed under the oppression of ISIS and the pain of a freedom revolution that wanted to be buried in the darkness of history became the conscience of the Revolution. He would be able to overcome whatever obstacles came his way, overcome all difficulties and resist to the last bit of his bones, as he said during a war years later.
FROM THERE TO THE MOUNTAINS
When he came to the mountains in 2017, he arranged for Avaşîn, where he would experience all the turning points of his guerrilla life and make his strongest ascents. In the hottest times of the war, he came face to face with the invaders and was not afraid for a moment. Guerrilla units executed in the chest of the impassable Zagros. He walked in such a way that he walked in the Zagros without being stuck or bumping for a moment, always with his head held high and with dignity…
WE EXIST, THEY WILL NOT
The Zagros were preparing for one of the most brutal battles in their history again in April 2021. Those who inherited those who did not allow the invasion were developing new tactics for the victory of this war. The guerrilla was building emplacements and tunnels, piercing the mountains with their nails. The revolution was one of the builders of this victory. Together with Cumalis, Çavrês and Mahirs, he held a position in Werxelê, where the most honorable resistance in history took place. In those days when the enemy approached the war tunnels of Werxelê, the words that left their mark on the process pour out of his heart; ‘there is no such thing as us and them, there is only us, nothing to them!’
THEY DID NOT PASS FOR 120 DAYS
Devrim was a militant who only said what he did and had the morality of the Apoists who swore to do what he said. That’s why he led the war tunnels during the 120-day Werxelê Resistance. He punished the invaders who tried to set foot in his country with a courage that frightened even fear. After the Werxelê Resistance, the Revolution learned better that the sword of war is sharpened with will, faith and vengeance. He continued to work in Avaşîn, where conditions got worse after the war. As the Regional Commander, he went to the Mamreşo area in 2022. Here he commanded mobile guerrilla teams and carried out many actions.
THE DAY WILL COME BLOOD DRY
The Turkish army started invasion attacks again in April 2022. This time, the Revolution was resisting in the Martyr Tekoşer war tunnels in the Werxelê area. Thanks to his experience in tunnel warfare, this time he was more resourceful, more foresighted and more cold-blooded. He carried out actions as if to make fun of his enemy, death, and knew very well how to shoot the enemy in the heart at the right place and time. During the tunnel wars, he focused on the tactics of the new period guerrilla and knew how to practice them very skillfully. While Martyr Tekoşer was resisting in the war tunnels, he was saying ‘not to the last drop of our blood.
FOUGHT NON STOPING
Until 2023, Commander Devrim fought, labored, injured, and survived very difficult processes, both on the ground and in the war tunnels, in every inch of Avaşîn’s land. Not even for a day did he complain about the harsh conditions, the war, the hunger, or the lack of sleep. It never goes back to a front; He did not propose to fight, to take a break from this difficult struggle.
HE DID THE STATE COMMAND
That young man, who dreamed of being like Egîd in Batman and set his sights on the mountains, was now the Commander of the State in Avaşîn, where the war was the fiercest and the resistance was most magnificent. The Revolution did not drop the flag it took over from the Cumans. He killed death over and over again with his pioneer spirit, sworn to fight harder and win more. While walking to martyrdom in Avaşîn on June 7, 2023, it was not the Revolution that fell, but the oppression of millennia. No matter how many bullets they fired or how many bombs they dropped, this spirit would no longer be killed on him.
