NEWS CENTER – More than 5000 people from different countries gathered in the Jura mountains of Switzerland between 19-23 July 2023 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the 1st Anti-authoritarian International in 1872. With more than 300 parallel events, the aim of the event was to bring anarchists together for a collective exchange, to share experiences of struggle and to increase internationalist solidarity. On this occasion, young internationalists from Lêgerin Magazine, Serhildan Network, CDK-S and also the Academy of Democratic Modernity were part of the gathering to create common perspectives with anarchists. A book stand was opened at the book fair of the meeting to spread the paradigm of the Kurdistan Freedom Movement and Abdullah Öcalan’s paradigm of democratic modernity.
“What is anarchism? What have anarchists done in their 150 years of history and what are they doing today?” Discussions were held with anarchists from different parts of the world about the historical struggle for a democratic, ecological society and women’s liberation in Kurdistan. For 5 days the main theme of the discussions was how different struggles around the world can be brought together with an internationalist perspective.
With the organisation of the internationalist youth, about a hundred young people from different countries participated in the big march in Lausanne on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Treaty of Lausanne. The youth, marching under the banner “Defend Kurdistan!”, together with thousands of Kurdistanis, started their march at the Place de La Navigation square and marched to the place where the treaty was signed. One hundred years later, Kurds in Lausanne with their friends once again shouted to the world that the Treaty of Lausanne has no validity for the peoples of Kurdistan
