What are the philosophical views, ideological and moral values that led the PKK cadres to the 14 July Great Death Fast Resistance?
First of all, I greet the 14 July Great Death Fast Resistance on its 41st anniversary. I state that our efforts to assimilate this great determination will always improve. The great revolutionaries who carried this resistance to victory; I commemorate comrades Mehmet Hayri Durmuş, Kemal Pir, Akif Yılmaz and Ali Çiçek with respect, love and gratitude.
On this occasion, I salute the Dörtler with respect and gratitude, led by Comrade Mazlum Doğan and Ferhat Kurtay, who are the owners of the resistances that paved the way for the 14 July Great Death Fast, one of the most meaningful resistances in history.
The 1982 Dungeon The Great Dungeon Resistance is undoubtedly a new beginning, a new turn. It is the same in terms of the history of the PKK and the history of Kurdistan.
THE RESISTANCES HAVE A VERY DEEP CONSCIOUSNESS OF HISTORY
What created such a turn? Undoubtedly, the simplest answer we can give to this may be deep historical consciousness. The comrades, PKK cadres and leaders who resisted in the dungeon had a deep historical consciousness. Leader Apo trained and prepared on this basis. Because the most basic feature of Leader Apo, as is well known, is that he has a deep historical consciousness and develops a new historical perspective. This process, which has developed from the beginning, has become a new philosophy of history, along with the paradigm shift.
What does it mean to have a deep historical consciousness? Undoubtedly, it means deeply knowing and understanding the character of the state of the Republic of Turkey, its fascist, colonialist, genocidal mentality and politics, which was first revealed with the Treaty of Lausanne. The comrades in question are also; Mazlum Doğan, Hayri Durmuş and Kemal Pir had such a high level of consciousness. Here is the 100th anniversary of the Treaty of Lausanne. They had brought to their consciousness the reality of Turkey revealed by this treaty, the reality of the world, and the fate it had cut for the Kurds.
HIGH AWARENESS OF HISTORY REVEALED HIGH RESPONSIBILITY
To the Kurds, who resisted the processes, massacres, genocides, for existence and freedom after that; They knew very well what was going on in Amed, Bingöl, Bitlis, Elazığ, Dersim, and Serhat. They were aware of what had happened to the resistances in Eastern Kurdistan. They understood the situation in Southern Kurdistan much better. They were deeply conscious of what the Kurds and Kurdistan were up against, especially on the basis of the end of the KDP with the defeat of ’75. They approached this situation with great responsibility. Of course, this awareness created a very high responsibility. Leader Apo said, “I did not create this situation in Kurdistan. I did not reveal the Kurdish question. It’s clear who created it, and it was in front of everyone’s eyes. He was watching, but everyone was ignoring him. I couldn’t ignore it like everyone else. I was not irresponsible. So I posed the problem. The whole load was on me,” he said. They had such a deep responsibility, a high sense of responsibility.
The peoples of the world had an important level of consciousness at the point where they lived. They had an important knowledge of the practices of the global capitalist modernity system on oppressed peoples, colonies and new colonies. They had a certain knowledge and an important awareness of the Vietnamese experience and the attacks on the Vietnamese people, and the resistance of the Vietnamese people against it. Again, the peoples who lived in Africa, Latin America and the Middle East were also aware of the reality.
THE STRUGGLE THEY ENTERED COMBINED WITH THE FATE OF KURDISTAN
You need to know this; A deep historical consciousness, a high sense of responsibility and great courage and sacrifice led the comrades in question to a determination to resist such a history. In this sense, they understood and defined the fascist military regime of September 12, 1980 very well. Here was a new offensive move by the Turkish nation-state created by the system to bring the Kurdish genocide system revealed by the Treaty of Lausanne to success and to complete it. In fact, they knew it was organized and directed by NATO.
In the struggle they embarked on – even going to the dungeon – in fact, their fate in the dungeons and the fate of the Kurdish people and Kurdistan merged at a very high level. It was necessary to answer the question of what to do in such a process. Mazlum Doğan gave this answer with the deepest awareness of history. The beginning of such a resistance is connected with his deep historical consciousness. Ferhat Kurtay and other comrades who deeply represent Kurdish patriotism. This is how the 14 July Great Death Fast Resistance was paved. This is how the resistance came to be.
KURD’S WORST LOOK WAS DEFEATED BY THE 1982 RESISTANCE
Was it just consciousness and a high sense of responsibility? No, it would be insufficient. To this we need to add belief in success, belief in freedom and salvation. Just like the consciousness, a deep belief in success, belief in victory, the belief that they will win by fighting, and the deep belief that the Kurdish people can be free, that they have the right to do so, and that they will win if they struggle, revealed such a great determination. Indeed, when it is called to defeat the bad luck, the bad luck of the Kurd was defeated with the 1982 Great Dungeon Resistance. A new date has been started. With such great resistances, a great belief, will, and confidence was formed that he would be victorious, and such a great resistance was entered.

JULY 14 MEANS A Gregorian
There is a connection between honor and freedom. Undoubtedly, if we are to talk about an honor, it can only happen by will, by living with free existence. Otherwise, it becomes an empty concept. This is why the 14 July Great Death Fast Resistance was given this meaning. July 14 was called National Pride Day. It was seen as a change in the national course. A milestone. There is a history that goes upside down and disappears under the fascist, colonial and genocidal attack. There is also a history that expresses survival and freedom by resisting this, resisting death. Here, July 14 marks such a historical beginning, a milestone. It means the overcoming of all kinds of negativity and the re-creation and revelation of humanity on the basis of freedom in Kurdistan.
In this respect, there is no doubt that it was a step taken on time, it was a historical beginning. Leader Apo said, “An action capable of representing our party line, a great bridge; a solid bridge for the transition from death to life, from slavery to freedom” and demanded that all workers, especially young people and women, and the Kurdish people cross this bridge to freedom without fear. And on this basis, he called to embark on the freedom struggle. When Leader Apo’s call combined with the great influence of the resistance, this 41-year great struggle and historical developments emerged.
It is necessary to understand them on this basis. In this respect, July 14 is the Kurdish existence and freedom decision taken against the Kurdish genocide decision initiated with Lausanne. For the Kurd, it means reaping a new date, predicting a new history, starting a new historical process. All of the things that have been happening in the name of Kurdish freedom, humanity, and humanitarian developments on the basis of Kurdish freedom in all four parts of Kurdistan, all over the world for 41 years, bear the signature of this great decision and resistance.
PKK DID NOT BEND LIKE OTHERS
What kind of an ideological direction did the resistance against fascism and the brutality that developed in a self-sacrificing manner create?
While the PKK was forming from the beginning, there were undoubtedly intense discussions on the character and methods of this struggle, the courage and sacrifice required by the struggle. This was happening for the PKK as well as between the PKK and other organizations. If the 1970s are remembered or if the documents of that period are examined, it can be easily seen that a very important struggle took place on this basis. There were many self-proclaimed leaders. There were many movements and organizations. Undoubtedly, everyone wanted to get the support of the Kurdish people, to become the Kurdish leader, the Kurdish organization. He wanted the Kurds to be free. But when the question of how to achieve, achieve and create this was asked, opinions, approaches and attitudes differed. Yes, let Kurdistan be saved, let the Kurds be free, even if the fascist, colonialist, genocidal mentality and politics are destroyed, how will this happen? What kind of struggle will it be? Here are different answers.
Many personalities, the movement responded differently, they acted in pairs. If necessary, it can be in the armed struggle, it can be a bodyguard, but because it is necessary to take advantage of opportunities and democratic opportunities, they shifted the work to reformism and opportunism. Of course, they put their individual attitudes, existence and lives before the fact of the Kurdish people’s free existence and life. The PKK rejected these approaches. Leader Apo evaluated them very broadly and PKK cadres trained themselves on the basis of these evaluations. It was not possible to ensure freedom in Kurdistan, to survive the fascist genocidal attacks, and even to keep oneself alive, not with these approaches. Because there were very concrete examples. There had been resistance against genocidal attacks in all parts of Kurdistan in the previous processes, and they were all crushed by the massacre. pioneers, leaders, their commanders had been brutally executed, they had been murdered. This was an obvious fact. Therefore, there was no change in the situation. If this situation is not changed by fighting, it is what will happen to anyone who says they are fighting for this cause. The PKK said the concrete, the real thing on this issue. It didn’t bend. He did not put his individual life impulses ahead of public existence and freedom. He was not self-interested. WHAT IS NEEDED TO BE DONE TO GAIN FREEDOM
PKK pioneer cadres and militants had this awareness when they were imprisoned. But of course, they tried all the possibilities and opportunities in the dungeon. It should be noted that they did not engage in fierce combat firsthand. In order to carry out the struggle for existence and freedom effectively, they thought about the conditions, opportunities and opportunities it offers, looked at it and tried to fight according to their requirements. But the attacks of the junta, the fascist genocidal junta, were intense. Confession, surrender, amnesia, unconscious attacks imposed on the dungeons were rapidly developed in a planned and organized manner. These led to re-evaluation. Again, within these evaluations, the level of consciousness and belief naturally produced correct results. What did he teach? What is said must be done. Those who say first should do first. Whatever the struggle for freedom requires, it must be done with great courage and self-sacrifice at the right time and place. This was the consciousness that emerged in Mazlum Doğan. The belief in victory, the deep consciousness and belief that saw today and how the Kurd could create great histories with the struggle he will develop as he gains the consciousness of freedom, created the courage and self-sacrifice in question. This is how the bouncer line was formed.
He showed this: If you resist the persecution imposed on the dungeon with sacrifice, you can exist. Apart from that, there is no opportunity to live freely and humanely. Either the soul and consciousness will be destroyed as a human being, the pulp will remain, or the material life will be overcome and the doors of the spiritual life will be opened freely. There was no other way. That’s why Kemal Pir said, “We love life enough to die for it.” It was very important, very meaningful. When one dies for life, it can only be created, meaningful and valuable, and free. The truth of life really expresses this. Philosophical view, understanding manifests itself in this way. This consciousness and will led to the formation of such a line: the Bouncer line.
JULY 14 SUCCESSFUL ACTION IS A CONSCIOUS ACTION
This should not be misunderstood. Of course, it was an ideological stance, a direction. It is absolutely necessary not to confuse the stance of the bouncer, the act of self-sacrifice, and the suicide bombers committed by some organizations. Most of them are done with money, by being deceived, by fanaticizing. But beware, the great dungeon resistance; There is absolutely no such situation in the sacrifice revealed by the Great Death Fast on 14 July. There is no such fanaticism. There is the deepest state of consciousness and belief. The one that most embodies this is the 14 July Great Death Fast action.
The fascist military junta of September 12, based on NATO, tried everything, everything. For example, it was unable to deter these protesters from their resistance by deceiving them. What did the junta chief Kenan Evren say while speaking in Dağkapı, pointing to the dungeon where the great death fast resistance took place? “There are some here who, if you cut off their heads, you cannot make them give up on their beliefs and thoughts”. Against the PKK and the 1982 Great Dungeon Resistance, he had to declare his own defeat in the face of the consciousness, will and self-sacrifice he revealed in the face of the 14 July Great Death Fast Resistance. It was an important situation, a meaningful situation. He showed how the resistance brought about a great victory of consciousness, will and faith.

CREATED THE VICTORY STYLE OF THE RESISTANCE
But how this would be experienced in practice first came to the fore in the dungeon resistance, and it showed itself. JULY 14 IS THE BASIS OF EVERYTHING THAT HAS GOED RIGHT IN KURDISTAN FOR 41 YEARS
How did the results of the 14 July Great Death Fast Resistance in terms of ideological, philosophical and moral values and how the tradition of resistance has been sustained until today? How is this legacy kept alive today?
There is a 41-year historical process. Every moment of these 41 years is full of great sacrifices, struggles and great developments. The Kurdish people, their youth, women and workers are re-creating themselves on the basis of the decision made and the line initiated by the Oppressed, Ferhats and July 14 resistance fighters in the dungeon. This is definitely so. This is how we should know.
It should be underlined once again. For the past 41 years, every word spoken correctly in the name of freedom in Kurdistan, and every work done right, has definitely the effect of the Great Dungeon Resistance, the July 14 Great Death Fast Resistance, its signature. There are guides, there is the spirit it gives, there is the courage it creates. It has an impact on him. Kurdish youth and women marched to the struggle under the influence of this great resistance, joined the party, showed the courage to be a guerrilla and went to the mountains. In this sense, the most meaningful response to this Great Death Fast of 14 July was, of course, the Great Guerrilla Leap of 15 August 1984. He meant to carry the 14 July resistance line to the mountains and to embody it in the guerrilla. It was very important, it was meaningful. The history of how such a guerrilla developed, how it was prepared, and how it took the step of becoming such a guerrilla is known. Leader Apo’s role as the determining, leading, educational and guiding force in the step-by-step development of such a process and its transformation into this great resistance is also known. It is absolutely necessary to see, know and recognize it as such. In this sense, the 14th of July sacrifice overflowed to the mountains, the plain and the city with the August 15 guerrillas. It took from the vanguard militant to creating the tools that would engulf the wider society and draw it into the struggle, to create the vanguard resistance, the guerrilla power. The guerrilla’s sacrifice revealed the serhildans of the 1990s. It led to the development of the democratic nation. It both initiated the women’s liberation revolution and developed the process of becoming a democratic nation. From the Kurdish people and society, who are colonialist, genocidal, torn to pieces by oppression and domination, torn apart from each other, fighting each other for the smallest reasons; free, equal, just, fraternal, It revealed the Kurdish democratic nationhood, its characteristics and its individual, which are interlocking with each other for democratic life, giving each other all kinds of power and support, and recreating the historical Kurdish sociality on the basis of freedom and democracy. He created his culture, his will, his measures, his self-sacrificing existence on this basis, and living. This is pretty important.
In the 90s, this great struggle took place among the Kurdish serhildans. From Nusaybin to Cizre, and from there to Lice, almost every village, town, and unit of Kurdistan took such an action and experienced awareness and organization. What did that mean? It meant the break of Kurdish society from the colonial genocidal system. It meant breaking with the regime of cultural genocide, being a democratic society against it, existing as a society, entering into a process of democratic nationhood. He developed an important process with guerrillas and serhildans.
IMRALI RESISTANCE HAS DEVELOPED AROUND THE LAST 25 YEARS
In the last 25 years, this situation has been shaped and developed around the Imrali resistance, the largest and most meaningful free human stance and resistance in history. Before that, Leader Apo always pioneered the creation of such a consciousness, will, belief, courage and self-sacrifice, and march, since the early 70’s. He became the creator of everything. In the last 25 years, Imrali has made this leadership much stronger with the biggest and most meaningful resistance in history against the torture and genocide system. The Zîlan sacrifice in the guerrilla, the serhildan, tens of hundreds of sacrifices from Vedat Aydın, and the line of selfless resistance represented by the İmralı resistance in the last 25 years, of course, to the whole party, the guerrilla, the women and the youth, the whole Kurdish society, the four parts of Kurdistan and spread abroad. It spread to humanity under the influence of the Kurdish freedom struggle. Here was the freedom revolution in Rojava, the 19th of July Revolution. Most importantly, resisting a force that has afflicted humanity, such as ISIS fascism, has resulted in protecting the Kurdish existence and freedom, and on this basis, saving humanity from such brutality. These are the practices, the practices of this sacrificial line and are now ingrained today. So by attacking the enemy so much, While trying to use the Kurds as they want by slavishly trying to make a confession rather than develop self-sacrifice by applying pressure, crushing them, destroying their soul and spirituality and turning them into pulp, the resistance against this paved the way for the re-creation of humanity on the basis of Kurdish freedom. Leader Apo said: “If an attack, oppression or persecution does not kill me, then it will be a basis for me to create great developments, it will be a basis for me to win.” Let’s be careful, the fascist regime of September 12 was implemented in the dungeons. UNDERSTANDING AND SUCCESSFULLY IMPLEMENTING HERITAGE…
What are the dimensions and responsibilities of protecting this legacy created by the 14 July Great Death Fast Resistance?
We can express it in one sentence. There is only one measure of claiming this resistance; understand it correctly and apply it successfully. To live and fight in such a line of resistance, on the line of self-sacrificing resistance… There is no other way. This is the measure of owning this resistance. It’s the only way to implement it. Otherwise it would be a diversion. This needs to be clearly known. This is a great work of consciousness, will, and belief. It means self-education and re-creation.
